This class will cover some of the Heirloom techniques for applying lace to Heirloom fabrics. It will cover heirloom dress construction for a classic child's dress from size 2T through size 10. The class will be lecture demonstration as well as hands on practice in putting laces together, application to fabrics both as insertion and edging. The only thing necessary is a machine that zigzags and does buttonholes. Be sure your machine is in good working order and that you understand how to make buttonholes. Bring your machine to the first class for practice. The Basic Yoke Dress pattern is included in the class sizes range from 2T - 10. Decide what size you will make and the pattern can be traced during the first class. Bring tissue paper for tracing the pattern. Written instructions for techniques and Heirloom materials and notions will be included.
There are specific notions and some tools necessary for this class. The discussion will cover these in the first class. These are available at the store.
There will be samples and photos of dresses to give the student ideas for her own design.
This class is for students that have sewing experience, and want to expand their knowledge with new techniques. You will need to buy some extra laces for practice samples. Some sewing will be done at home after practicing the techniques in class.
