Ready-to-wear ladies blouses with lace insertions are featured by many designers this Spring both on fashion runways and in retail catalogs. This blouse is constructed of fine Heirloom fabric and feminine French insertion laces. Including French lace in a blouse requires specific techniques that will be learned in this class including straight and curved lines. Your current sewing machine can be used for these techniques provided it has an adjustable zigzag.
Any simple blouse pattern can be used for this class, so choose one from your collection or look in the commercial pattern books. The sample blouse buttons up the back, but can also be a front closure. Make sure there are no vertical darts or princess seams. It is assumed the student has a thorough knowledge of her machine and sewing construction expertise so that the blouse finishing can be done after the class concludes. Since every machine is different, buttonhole construction is the student’s responsibility. Contact your machine dealer if you need a review of buttonhole construction. Finishing tips will be included in the second class.
The format is lecture demonstration including discussion of Heirloom techniques and products. Participants will have time to practice the techniques and begin constructing their blouse within the two three-hour classes.
You are the designer of your Heirloom blouse which will be beautiful worn with skirts and jumpers as well as blue jeans. The blouses can be worn tucked in or left out; belted or tied with a sash!
